Join Us For A Fingerpickin’ Good Time, As We Celebrate Mr. Ricky Skaggs!

Hello, everybody!

I hope you’re all having a tremendous week!

Shoot, I can’t calm Jim Ed down. He’s been running around here tickled pink that daylight savings time is just around the corner!

However, I know just the thing to catch his ear and get him to sit still…playing some good ole Bluegrass Music at a a gratuitous volume!

You see, Country Music and Bluegrass have a long history together.  Both are distinctly American art forms that were crafted in the imaginations of working class folks darn near a hundred years ago.

Although the two styles would take their own paths, there have been some amazing artists to meld the two over the years.  This week’s show is about one such individual, Grand Ole Opry star Mr. Ricky Skaggs!

We’ve got a prime example of that after the jump…..a video of Ricky Skaggs and Brad Paisley singing and picking on one of Ricky’s great hits “Highway 40 Blues.”

(And on the Grad Ole Opry stage, no less!)

We’re Heading Back To 1983!

Oh, what a year for Country Music!

Friends, it’s that time again…we’re hopping in our trusty time-machine and setting the dial to 1983!  That was the year that both CMT and TNN debuted on the airwaves (within two days of each other)…

Our friend, Little Jimmy Dickens, was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame that year…and a few future country stars were born, including Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood.

Sadly, 1983 would also be the year that the world would suffer the passing of legendary guitar player, singer, and songwriter…
